We were unable to find drivers for your product. Try manually selecting your operating system. If your operating system is not listed then HP may not provide driver support for your product with that operating system.
after a re-install of Windows 7 (Home Premium), I cannot use my printer. Installing from the CD doesn't work, as apparently the generic IEEE 128.4 driver is missing. Installing that driver seems impossible too.
The HPSA cannot see the printer because you do not have it successfully installed in the first place. You will have to atleast get the basic hardware drivers and objects installed in the Device Manager for the printer in order for any kind of application to understand what its connected to. With access to the driver files you can manually install each of the unknown or incomplete hardware objects of the Device Manager.
You could also try installing the printer over an alternative technique. For example if you are USB right now then try an Ethernet cable connection through your home router. An alternative connection would help you confirm if the printer is behaving correctly or not, it shoudl also open up access to the HPSA for more options.
Alright I went out and checked. The model is listed, but there isnt a driver available for Win7. That means you need to either use a driver from another printer that is supported on Win7 or let MS updates download and find a compatible driver for you. Our goto legacy print driver is the Laserjet 4000. You can play around and try different drivers from the list of preinstalled options that Win7 has to offer if this driver is not satisfactory.
Some printers are so old that they do not work with any other print drivers, they need model specific drivers developed for certain legacy OSs. In that case sometimes you can find older versions of the driver and install them using compatibility mode on new OSs like Win7. For example if your Win7 is 64bit then try the Vista 64bit driver but install it with compatibility mode.
This HP Deskjet 1010 driver Printer is an all-in-one printer which provides affordable and easy printing with a quick setup sequence. With a fast USB 2.0 port, it will be easy for you to pair flash drives and make prints directly from these devices. Also, thanks to a compact design, it will be able to fit into shelves and little spaces.
The printing speed on this printer is 20 pages per minute in black and white mode. For the colored method, however, it provides a rate of 16 pages per minute. Its printing resolution is also pretty attractive; it prints at 600 x 600 dpi in black and white mode and 4800 x 2400 dpi in color mode. The most massive printing size on this printer is the A4 size, and its monthly duty cycle is 1000 pages.
For a printer of its pay level, this printer provides an acceptable set of paper handling characteristics. Its paper handling input is a 60-sheet input tray, and the paper handling output is a 25-sheet output tray. While it is true that this printer might not be hitting a lot of premium numbers, people who use printers for minor purposes will find an excellent use for this model. I think that this is because this printer model was a (relatively) cheap device which used a (proprietary) host-based language, rather than supporting any of the 'traditional' Page Description Languages (PCL5, PCL XL, PostScript).
Because the proprietary language is probably only used by this one model (or perhaps several models in the 101x range?), I'd guess that neither MS nor HP consider there is a business case for spending money on writing a special Windows 10 compatible device driver for these old printers.
Come on HP - Provide Print Drivers for the Laserjet 1010 or provide instructions on how we can print to this printer in Windows 10 (32 and 64 bit). It's a perfectly good printer which I shouldn't have to throw away just because I upgraded the operating system. How hard can it be?
I had this problem with my HP LaserJet 1018 and HP support came up with a solution. When you are installing your printer and it asks what is your operating system, lie and tell it Windows 7, click Change and the drivers that appear include the old ones. It worked for me. I am finding that their support people do not all have the same knowledge or willingness to make the extra effort. The first one I spoke with tried to sell me a new printer.!
*SpencerLab Sept 2021 study of printer inks sold in North America commissioned by HP for on-average performance of 16 brands of non-HP refill, remanufactured, and imitation cartridges vs. Original HP Ink SKUs 952XL, 63XL, 902XL, 950XL, 951XL. To account for reliability-driven supplies issues, defective and failed cartridges were included in the page yield calculations. Consequently, the reported page yield numbers are not based on ISO/IEC 24711 standard methodology, as it requires defective supplies be excluded from page yield calculation. See -NA-2021.pdf

Even the model number is too hard! If it is critical to getting information, why isn't it written on the front. This HP Envy laptop has no such information. I am not going to pull the machine apart to look for this. All I want to do is run my HP non-wireless printer with my new laptop
Regrettably, some of us struggle with all this stuff. I want HP to send me a step-by-step guide to having their laptop work with the printer I have. I shouldn't have to have the skills of an IT grad to work this stuff out.
In Win10 -> add new printer -> add it manually .... old printer ... not on the list -> select connected port- Dot4_001 -> find HP LaserJet 1015 on the nenu list -> if thers is no 1015 then click "Windows Update" which under the right side of the menu list and waiting for its ending...... then go back finding again. It should be fine.
If it's not then click the "install from disk" which seats beside the "Windows Update" and point it to the folder where you download the 1015's driver. Don't to unzip the driverfirst which you downloaded.
So I try to find to use the HP Universal Print Driver PCl5 (not PCL6 it won't work) and there's no such one on 1010's Win7 x64 drivers. Then i went to HP P2055's Win7 x64 driver and fount it, download and execute and assign a folder to extract to.
HP LaserJet 1010 is more than 10 years aged it's simple and effective and long life to use but i don't think HP has the responsibility for all new Windows system for it. If you think they should be then maybe one day HP will cut down the life expectancy of every new HP printers and shorten them to less than 5 years. Then there's nothing to worry about.
The HP Deskjet 1010 Printer Driver was first released in November 2015 and its has been upgraded to be used in conjunction with Windows 10 operating systems since this time. It is primarily designed to provide an effective means of communication between a computer and the printer. There are times when a user may need to upgrade to this driver in order to carry out common printing tasks. The total size of this file is 90.3 megabytes.
